About AICE

AICE Lab is an interdisciplinary space to design, develop, and investigate innovative theories, methods and technologies about learning analytics and artificial intelligence to advance the fundamental research and practices for inclusive STEM and online education.

  Dr. Wanli Xing

Wanli Xing is an Associate Professor of Educational Technology at University of Florida. His research interests are artificial intelligence, learning analytics, STEM education and online learning.

Faculty Profile



Postdoc

Wangda Zhu (@Wanda) is a Postdoc in AICE. He graduated with a PhD in Human Behavior and Design at Cornell University. He also has an MS in Design Studies from Cornell University and a BS in Industrial Design and Architecture from Zhejiang University, China. His research interests include learning analytics, human centered design, and educational data visualization.



Graduate Students

Ray Opoku (@rayopk) is a Ph.D. Educational Technology student at the UF College of Education. He is also a data management engineer at UF. He earned an MSc. Data Science and an MSc. Economics from South Dakota State University. His research interest is in adopting analytical and data mining tools to draw insights from various online platforms, learning analytics, fairness in AI, and computational bias. He is a 2021 Holmes Scholar at UF College of Education and is passionate about the holistic approach to learning, travel, photography, and collaborating with people.



Yukyeong Song (@Song) is a Ph.D. student in Educational Technology at the UF College of Education and co-advised with Dr. Maya Israel. She earned her master's degree in Educational Technology from Seoul National University in South Korea. Her research interests are in AI and Data Literacy education, Learning Analytics using AI. She has plenty of practical experience and used to work as an instructional designer for AI/Data Science engineers at Hyundai Motor Company. She also has a great passion for teaching. She used to teach AI in high school after-school programs.



Fan Zhang (@Fan) is a Ph.D. student in the Educational Technology Program at the University of Florida. He obtained his master's degree in Data Analytics Engineering from Northeastern University. His research interests primarily revolve around large language models, multimodal models, AI for educational use, learning analytics, educational software development, and educational games.



Hyunju Oh (@Hyunju) is a Ph.D. student in Educational Technology at UF College of Education. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Education from Kookmin University, South Korea, and a Master's degree in Educational Technology from Korea University, South Korea. She is interested in Online Learning, Learning Analytics, and Emerging Technologies. Specifically, her research interests lie at the intersection of educational theory and computational analysis techniques, focusing on enhancing online learning environments through the application of learning analytics.



Zifeng Liu (@Zifeng) is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Educational Technology at the College of Education, University of Florida. She holds a Master's degree in Computer Software and Theories, which she earned at Beijing Normal University. Zifeng's research passions are centered around the fascinating intersection of educational data mining and the application of artificial intelligence in the field of education.



Hai Li (@Hai) is a Ph.D. student in the Educational Technology program at the University of Florida. He holds a master's degree in Engineering from the School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China. He has received a silver medal in ACM-ICPC and ranks in the top 1% of Kaggle's data science experts. He previously worked as an AI algorithm engineer at Tencent. His research interests include big data learning analytics, educational data mining, and the application of multi-modal models in text and vision for education.



Alumnus

Bo Pei is now an Assistant Professor at Instructional Technology, Department of Educational & Psychological Studies, University of South Florida. He earned his Ph.D. in the school of teaching and learning(STL) at University of Florida. His research interests primarily revolve around educational data visualization and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).



Hanxiang Du is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Science, Math, and Technology Education at Western Washington University. Her primary areas of research focus on computer science education, learning analytics, and the application of artificial intelligence in the field of education.



Chenglu Li is an Assistant Professor in the Learning Sciences Program within the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Utah. His research focuses on the development of fair, accountable, and transparent AI systems, as well as exploring the applications of learning engineering with large language models.
